ECU Health Duplin General Hospital Foundation

Originally chartered in 1983, the ECU Health Duplin General Hospital Foundation promotes the hospital’s development and supports its programs and services.

Through public awareness and fund-raising events, the Foundation assists the hospital with needed capital projects, equipment purchases, program development and provided services. Some specific areas recently supported include stroke prevention, cancer care services, women’s care and men’s health.

The Foundation works in concert with the hospital to foster partnerships with other organizations in the communities served by the hospital, promoting awareness of hospital services available and often providing funds to assist with needed health programs. Through the Community Benefits Grants program, such projects have included working with community wellness centers to provide education in good nutrition and physical activity, collaborating with the health department to prevent and treat diabetes, partnering with the county extension service to provide nutrition education, and working with the public schools to promote physical fitness and obesity prevention.

Financial support from the community, both corporate and individual, has been crucial to the Foundation’s success in helping ECU Health Duplin Hospital provide quality health care programs and services to the communities it serves.
