Seven years ago, students at the Brody School of Medicine took action to transform their vision into reality. They set out to improve the lives of children in Greenville, North Carolina, who are battling pediatric cancer. From this determination, Pirates Vs. Cancer emerged—a passionate movement committed to driving change and giving hope.
On April 12, 2025, Pirates Vs. Cancer will host its 7th annual event at the Brody School of Medicine campus. Participants will shave their heads and cut their hair to raise awareness about the struggles of pediatric cancer patients in eastern North Carolina. Through these bold gestures, they will stand in solidarity with young patients and highlight the urgent need for support.
The event guarantees that 100% of the funds raised will directly support programs and services at the James and Connie Maynard Children’s Hospital in Greenville. These contributions will upgrade critical medical equipment, ensuring children receive more effective treatments. The funds will also strengthen Child Life Services, giving children access to comfort items and distraction tools to ease their mental and physical challenges during treatment.
This event goes beyond fundraising—it drives meaningful change in the lives of children fighting cancer. By joining us, you take part in a mission to deliver hope, better care, and unwavering support. Together, we can make a difference—one child at a time.
